Dr. David M. Kayne
Dr. Kayne is a Board Certified Internist, Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and Certified Diabetes Educator who has been practicing medicine for more than 26 years. Dr. Kayne has had a special interest into the treatment of people with Diabetes. His office offers cutting edge Diabetes treatment including use of the latest technological advances with insulin pumps and sensors as well as use of the most advanced medications including inhaled insulin (Afrezza), insulin analogues, oral agents and GLP-1 injectable medication. In addition, his practice setting at Medical Group of Encino also offers private counseling with a certified Diabetes Educator and Registered Dietician. He also works with five other board certified internists who have special interests in Infectious disease, Cardiology, HIV, and Geriatrics thus providing a comprehensive therapeutic setting for his patients.
Dr. Llaila Afrika
Dr. Llaila Afrika is a lecturer, teacher, historian, author and health consultant. He has a doctorate in Naturopathy, is a certified Addictionologist and a certified nurse from Georgia Baptist Medical Center. He's also an Acupuncturist, Metaphysician, and was a U.S. Army Social Worker nurse and Psychotherapist in his early years. He has studied to become a Massage Therapist, Herbalist, Historian, Writer, Lecturer, Teacher and Medical Astrologist. Dr. Afrika has over 45 years experience and training in ethno medicine - the use of disease remedies and diagnosis based upon the biochemistry of a race. He has taught and studied in many different countries and currently teaches a Nutritional Counselor Certification Course in America, the Caribbean Islands, Haiti, and England.
Dr. Ray Urbanski
Dr. Raymond W. Urbanski is the Chief Medical Officer at MannKind Corp with more than 25 years of research, clinical, and pharmaceutical industry experience. He’s had a hand in developing numerous new drugs and indications across oncology, rheumatology, cardiology, endocrinology, and immunology. Prior to joining MannKind, Dr. Urbanski held positions at Mylan, Pfizer, and Suntory Pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Farid Zarif is an award winning fitness expert and globally noted weight loss and management professional. Zarif is a graduate of the American College of Holistic Nutrition and holds a doctorate in Naturopathy and Philosophy in human nutrition science. Dr. Zarif is a former instructor at the Western University School of Medicine and founder of the "Rhythm Diet" formulated to encourage eating according to your body clock (The circadian rhythm). He is trained in Bariatric Medicine, which means he specializes in weight loss and obesity, the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses of overweight and obese adults, from their teen years through senior adult.
Dr. Mike Castagna is the Chief Executive Officer and serves on the Board of Directors for MannKind Corporation, the makers of Afrezza - the only FDA-approved inhaled insulin. Dr. Castagna has over 20 years of experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotech and specialty pharmacy industries. Before joining the Mannkind team, he served as Vice President, Global Commercial Lead for a portfolio of nine biosimilar drugs, and Vice President, Global Lifecycle Management at Amgen. Prior to Amgen, Mike worked to relaunch rheumatoid arthritis drugs at Bristol-Myers Squibb and established the US Biologics Business Unit at Sandoz (Novartis). Mike also serves on the board of Pet Partners, a non-profit animal therapy program providing animal-assisted interactions.
After growing up in a world with no multimedia but wanting to be at the forefront, Jeff Dachis co-founded the digital marketing and design agency Razorfish - part of Publicis Groupe, and one of the world's largest interactive agencies. Being a curious and adventurous guy, Jeff has tried it all: acting, singing, deejaying, dancing - he studied ballet, and holds a bachelor’s degree in dance. Despite living an active and healthy lifestyle, Dachis was diagnosed at age 44 with Type 1 diabetes and soon realized the lack of current healthcare offered to treat the disease. Jeff shifted his focus into diabetes care and education by creating his own app and diabetic community - One Drop. One Drop aims to help those with type 1 and type 2 diabetes to log and share information with each other in order to better manage the disease. Now that’s a dia-bad-ass!
Nicholas Turturro, Jr. is an American film, television and prolific on-stage character actor with a long list of filmography credits and an Emmy Award nomination for his role as Dt. James Martinez on the television series NYPD Blue. Turturro was born in Brooklyn, New York and is an avid New York sports fan.
Brian White comes from a large family with 5 younger sisters. He attended Dartmouth College where he studied Political Science, Psychology and Theater Arts and played on the Football and Lacrosse teams. Following graduation, Brian was signed by the New England Patriots yet unfortunately, an injury cut his athletic career short and he was introduced to the profession of modeling and co-founded a professional dance/theater company: Phunk Phenomenon Urban Dance Theater Company. In 2000 I was presented with the opportunity to work in Los Angeles, CA on the TV show “Moesha.” Since then Brian has had a successful acting career with roles in “Stomp the Yard”, “The Family Stone” and “The Cabin in the Woods” among others.

Kenyatta is the founder and creator of Hip Hop Motivation, a catalogue of inspiring, useful, and intriguing video and audio content. His first project under Hip Hop Motivation Corporation is titled, “Think and Ballout”. It’s a motivational audio play inspired by Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich”, that Kenyatta flipped into something more relatable to the hip hop community. Growing up in Los Angeles gang territory, Kenyatta was confronted with many hardships. He was shot at and left for dead but this did not deter him from pursuing greatness. With the spirit of a true entrepreneur, Kenyatta ended up owning the same salon he was once an employee at. By acting as if and treating every client like they were a famous movie star, rapper, or artist, he eventually created his own reality and established relationships with not only entertainers but business moguls such as Damon Dash.

Kristinia is the daughter of James DeBarge - a member of the American R&B/soul group DeBarge. Kristinia started her own singing career at the age of 12 when her father first took her into a recording studio. Ever since, Kristinia has released three studio albums, “Exposed”, “Young and Restless”, and “Thinkin Out Loud”. She has received numerous acclaims, clothing deals, nominations and was chosen as Britney Spear’s opening act for her Circus world tour. In 2014 Kristinia started her acting career with Christmas in Compton, directed by Nick Canon, and has since starred in three seasons of the reality TV show, Growing Up Hip Hop on WeTV.
TJ is the son of legendary Run D.M.C. founder Jam Master who has stepped into his father’s shoes as a DJ, spinning at the hottest events and venues around the world. Although TJ may have some genetic creativity, he is actually self-taught and honed his skills when he interned at NYC’s Scratch DJ Academy. Four years and a few viral videos later, TJ was signed on as A$AP Ferg’s official tour DJ and has been on the road with Jack Ü, Zeds Dead, Kiesza and more. Aside from DJing, TJ stars in the WE tv series Growing Up Hip Hop, which has had three successful seasons.
Actor Tom Danford was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 1983. Tom had tried every method of therapy to keep his A1C levels below 7.0. From 8 - 10 insulin shots a day, to the pump, multiple blood tests per day and utilizing continuous glucose monitoring devices. Throughout Tom's 34+ years of his diabetes journey, he's had a very challenging time bringing his A1C below 7.5, even though he has been a lifelong health enthusiast. In addition, Tom developed Diabetic Retinopathy. Once Afrezza entered the market Tom used it for 6 months, his A1C dropped to 7.2 and his Retinopathy did not advance. After using Afrezza for another 4 months, his A1C dropped to 6.8 and his Retinopathy began to decrease. After another 4 months Tom's A1C dropped to 6.4 and his diabetic retinopathy was gone! Today, Afrezza is an integral part of Tom's daily therapy, and he now could not imagine managing his diabetes without it.
Anthony has been a mentor to Damon Dash for the past year, aiding Damon in getting his A1C from a 10 to a 7 with the help of the inhalable insulin, Afrezza. Anthony has used Afrezza for the past two years and credits it for completely changing his T1D management. In addition to excellent numbers, Anthony liked Afrezza so much, he went to work for Mannkind, the makers. He admits he spent 20 years trying to avoid thinking about diabetes and credits the online community & the Diabetes Unconference for saving his life and introducing him to Afrezza Insulin.
